Sports Solidarity is a boutique consulting firm for groups of athletes and their labor organizations, built by operators who have delivered historic results.

Harry Marino

FOUNDER & CEO

Harry Marino is the Founder and CEO of Sports Solidarity. He is a former professional baseball player who led the historic unionization of minor league baseball, as well as several successful collective bargaining negotiations across sports. Harry has served in various positions over his career, including Executive Director of the nonprofit Advocates for Minor Leaguers, litigation associate at Williams & Connolly LLP, assistant general counsel at the Major League Baseball Players Association, and law clerk to federal judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. Harry received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and his B.A. from Williams College.

Josh Thole

Chief of Staff

Josh Thole is the Chief of Staff at Sports Solidarity. He played professional baseball for more than fourteen years, including eight at the Major League level for the New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays. During his time in the Major Leagues, he served as an elected union Player Representative in the Major League Baseball Players Association, where he helped lead his fellow players through two successful collective bargaining negotiations. After retiring from baseball, he began a career in labor organizing. Josh worked as an Outreach Coordinator at Advocates for Minor Leaguers and helped lead the successful effort to unionize minor league baseball.

Liz Bloom

Growth and Operations

Liz Bloom supports all things Growth & Operations at Sports Solidarity. Liz Bloom served as Director for Equality and Opportunity at the White House under President Biden. Previously in the Biden-Harris Administration, Liz was a speechwriter and advisor to the White House Domestic Policy Advisors and to Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler. Earlier in her career, she worked as a journalist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, where she covered baseball and classical music, though not always at the same time. Liz has an MBA and MPP from Harvard Business School and the Kennedy School of Government. No relation to Ron.

Ron Bloom

Senior Advisor

Ron Bloom is a Senior Advisor at Sports Solidarity. Ron has unique experience at the highest levels of labor, business, and government. In addition to serving as Vice Chair at Brookfield, he has served in several senior roles in the White House and as Special Assistant to the President of the United Steelworkers. In 2010, Ron was named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World in large part due to his role in rescuing General Motors and Chrysler while saving more than 100,000 jobs. No relation to Liz.

Sports Solidarity Center

Sports Solidarity partners with the educational non-profit Sports Solidarity Center, which runs the Sports Solidarity podcast and other programming.
